The Fiji Society for the Blind has received a generous early Christmas donation exceeding $15,000 from Queensland Insurance, further reinforcing their longstanding partnership which has spanned 13 years. Kim Strudwick, the senior communications manager, emphasized the company’s dedication to enhancing community resilience, enabling individuals to surmount challenges and pursue independent lives.

During this decade-long collaboration, Queensland Insurance has made significant contributions, totaling over $180,000, to improve the lives of students and their families. This year, the QBE Foundation has specifically allocated $15,000 to the school, which will facilitate essential transportation services and early intervention programs for students.

Of this new donation, $10,000 is dedicated to a crucial school bus service that ensures safe transportation for 13 day students along the Suva-Nausori corridor. This bus service will also support extracurricular activities, fostering connectivity and growth among the school’s 23 students. Additionally, a $5,000 investment in the Early Intervention Program will enable vision screenings and provide home-based training and mobility support for 30 children across Fiji.

Barbara Farouk, executive director of the Fiji Society for the Blind, expressed heartfelt gratitude for QBE’s sustained support, noting that their contributions significantly alleviate financial burdens, especially since the society largely depends on donations. She added that this timely donation will help relieve parents of the logistical challenges of transporting students.

It is heartwarming to witness such dedication from corporate partners like Queensland Insurance, especially in these times when community support is more critical than ever. This collaboration not only enhances the educational experiences of students but also reinforces the power of community and corporate partnerships in creating positive change.

In summary, the ongoing support from Queensland Insurance exemplifies how corporate responsibility can play a significant role in enriching lives and enhancing the educational landscape for underserved communities.
