This state-of-the-art facility signals Punjas’ commitment to enhancing its supply chain effectiveness throughout Fiji and the larger Pacific region.

The Distribution Centre is part of the company’s broader expansion strategy aimed at meeting the increasing demand for its diverse food and non-food products, further cementing its position as one of Fiji’s leading privately owned companies. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Hon. Professor Biman Prasad, visited the Punjas facilities to gain insight into this innovative project and its operational strategies.

Professor Prasad recognized the facility as a pivotal milestone for both Punjas and the Pacific region, stating that it will significantly enhance the efficiency of regional supply chains and create new economic opportunities, thereby strengthening Fiji’s role in the expanding Pacific market.

Established in 1935, Punjas is approaching its 90th anniversary next year, employing over 1,500 people. During the Deputy Prime Minister’s visit, Punjas management discussed their contributions to the local economy and their growing international presence through their Fijian-made products.

The visit also included a tour of Punjas’ corporate headquarters and its biscuit manufacturing operations, which are essential to the company’s extensive distribution network. Demonstrating its commitment to corporate social responsibility, Punjas announced the expansion of the Punjas Medical Centre with a $2.25 million investment to support healthcare in the community, alongside the extension of the Punjas Children’s Park in Lautoka, showcasing their dedication to enhancing the quality of life for Fijians.

The visit culminated in a meeting between Professor Prasad and senior directors of Punjas, where they discussed the company’s future vision and its role in driving economic growth. As Punjas celebrates its 90th anniversary, it continues to play a vital role in Fiji’s economic development and community welfare, emphasizing the importance of both corporate success and social responsibility in fostering a thriving society.

This expansion of Punjas not only reflects a growing business but also highlights a commitment to the community and regional market stability, offering hope for continued economic prosperity in Fiji.
