Punjas has officially launched its ambitious $55 million Distribution Centre in Lautoka, projected to become the largest warehouse in the Pacific. Boasting a significant capacity of 24,000 pallets, this state-of-the-art facility is currently under construction and signifies Punjas’ dedication to enhancing its supply chain operations throughout Fiji and the wider Pacific region.

This new distribution center is integral to Punjas’ expansion plans, as the company aims to satisfy the increasing demand for both food and non-food products, further reinforcing its status as one of Fiji’s largest privately-owned companies.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Hon. Professor Biman Prasad, recently visited the Punjas facilities to gain insights into the new distribution center as well as the operational strategies of the company. He remarked, “This new facility is a significant milestone not only for Punjas but for the entire Pacific region. It will undoubtedly enhance the efficiency of regional supply chains and create new economic opportunities, while strengthening Fiji’s position as a key player in the Pacific’s growing market.”

Founded in 1935, Punjas is approaching its 90th anniversary in the coming year and remains a vital entity in the region, employing over 1,500 individuals. During his visit, Professor Prasad was informed about Punjas’ contributions not only to the local economy but also its increasing international presence through a diverse range of Fijian-made products.

Punjas is also devoted to social responsibility, having recently announced a $2.25 million investment to expand the Punjas Medical Centre to provide essential healthcare services to the community. Additionally, the enhancement of the Punjas Children’s Park in Lautoka highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to improving the living standards of Fijians.

The visit concluded with a strategic meeting between Professor Prasad and Punjas Senior Directors, Mr. Kanti Punja and Mr. Jagjiwan Punja, to discuss the company’s future vision and its role in promoting economic growth in the region. As Punjas nears its 90th anniversary, it continues to be a pivotal force in driving Fiji’s economic progress and community welfare, ensuring a hopeful outlook for both the company and the region.
