Punjas has announced the opening of its new $55 million Distribution Centre in Lautoka, which is set to become the largest warehouse in the Pacific with a remarkable storage capacity of 24,000 pallets. This modern facility, still under construction, highlights Punjas’ dedication to enhancing its supply chain capabilities not only in Fiji but also throughout the Pacific region.

This distribution centre represents a strategic component of the company’s growth plan aimed at addressing the increasing demand for both food and non-food products, reinforcing its status as one of Fiji’s largest privately-owned businesses.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Hon. Professor Biman Prasad, recently visited Punjas to gain insight into the operations and strategic initiatives tied to the new facility. He remarked, “This new facility is a significant milestone not only for Punjas but for the entire Pacific region. It will undoubtedly enhance the efficiency of regional supply chains and create new economic opportunities, while strengthening Fiji’s position as a key player in the Pacific’s growing market.”

Founded in 1935, Punjas is preparing to celebrate its 90th anniversary next year and proudly employs over 1,500 individuals. During his visit, Professor Prasad also learned about the company’s contributions to the local economy and its increasing international presence through its Fijian-made products.

Additionally, Punjas continues to demonstrate its commitment to community welfare through a $2.25 million investment in expanding the Punjas Medical Centre, enhancing healthcare services for local residents. The company is also extending the Punjas Children’s Park in Lautoka, reflecting its dedication to improving the quality of life for the people of Fiji.

The visit concluded with a meeting between Professor Prasad and Senior Directors, Mr. Kanti Punja and Mr. Jagjiwan Punja, where they discussed Punjas’s future vision and its role in promoting economic growth.

As Punjas approaches its milestone anniversary, it remains a vital player in driving Fiji’s economic development and supporting community initiatives.

In summary, this development not only signifies a step forward for Punjas but also a promising horizon for Fiji’s economic landscape, showcasing how businesses can thrive while contributing to societal welfare.
