This state-of-the-art facility, currently under construction, highlights Punjas’s commitment to improving its supply chain efficiency throughout Fiji and the greater Pacific region.

The new distribution center is part of Punjas’s strategy to expand its operations and meet the increasing demand for its food and non-food products, thus strengthening its position as one of Fiji’s largest privately-owned businesses. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Hon. Professor Biman Prasad, paid a visit to the Punjas facilities to gain insights into the company’s operations and strategic objectives.

“This new facility is a significant milestone not only for Punjas but for the entire Pacific region,” stated Professor Prasad, emphasizing the anticipated improvements in regional supply chain efficiency and the economic opportunities that may arise, enhancing Fiji’s role in the evolving Pacific market.

Founded in 1935, Punjas is approaching its 90th anniversary next year and continues to prosper, employing over 1,500 individuals. During the visit, the management team showcased its contributions not only to the local economy but also its expanding international presence through its range of Fijian-made products. Professor Prasad explored the corporate headquarters and the company’s biscuit manufacturing unit, which supports its vast distribution network and drives innovation.

Furthermore, Punjas reaffirmed its commitment to corporate social responsibility with a $2.25 million investment in the expansion of the Punjas Medical Centre, which will deliver essential healthcare services to the community. The development of the Punjas Children’s Park in Lautoka also underscores the company’s dedication to uplifting the quality of life for Fijians.

The visit concluded with a meeting between Professor Prasad and Punjas’s Senior Directors, Mr. Kanti Punja and Mr. Jagjiwan Punja, where they discussed the company’s future vision and its vital role in fostering economic growth. As Punjas approaches its 90th anniversary, it remains a pivotal player in Fiji’s economic progress and community welfare.

In essence, this ambitious project not only marks a significant development for Punjas but also stands as a beacon of hope for future economic opportunities in Fiji and the Pacific region, reinforcing the importance of innovation and community focus in business endeavors.
