This state-of-the-art facility, currently under construction, reflects Punjas’ dedication to enhancing its supply chain capabilities not only within Fiji but across the Pacific region.

The distribution centre is part of the company’s broader expansion strategy to meet the increasing demand for both food and non-food consumables, further establishing its role as one of Fiji’s leading privately-owned enterprises. In a recent visit to the facilities, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Hon. Professor Biman Prasad had the opportunity to observe the new distribution centre and understand the operational dynamics and strategic plans of Punjas.

Professor Prasad remarked that this new centre represents a significant achievement not just for Punjas but for the entire Pacific region, emphasizing its potential to improve the efficiency of local supply chains and create new economic opportunities. This development strengthens Fiji’s position as a notable player in the expanding Pacific market.

Founded in 1935, Punjas is approaching its 90th anniversary next year and continues to prosper with over 1,500 employees. During the Deputy Prime Minister’s visit, Punjas management discussed the company’s impact on the local economy and its expanding international footprint through its Fijian-made products.

Additionally, the company announced the expansion of the Punjas Medical Centre with a $2.25 million investment, aimed at providing essential healthcare services to the local community. Furthermore, the extension of the Punjas Children’s Park in Lautoka demonstrates the company’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for Fijians.

The visit concluded with a meeting between Professor Prasad and Punjas Senior Directors, Mr. Kanti Punja and Mr. Jagjiwan Punja, where they discussed the company’s vision for the future and its pivotal role in fostering economic growth. As Punjas approaches its 90th anniversary, it continues to be a crucial player in driving Fiji’s economic development and community welfare.
