Traffic investigators are seeking the public’s help to identify a man who was fatally injured in a road accident in the Southern Division on the morning of the 1st of this month.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana reported that the victim, believed to be in his late 20s, was found lying in the middle of Queens Road near Talenaua in Navua. He was struck by a vehicle being driven by a 36-year-old man around 1 a.m.
Despite being taken to Navua Hospital, the victim was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival. SSP Divuana indicated that the investigation is still underway, but the identity of the man remains unknown. The police have characterized him as an i-taukei male and have shared images of his clothing and a unique tattoo on his left arm to help anyone who might recognize him come forward with information.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Traffic Investigation Unit at 9905 633. As the investigation progresses, police are hopeful that the community can assist in providing leads that may help bring closure to this unfortunate incident.
