Eight individuals were taken to Korovou Hospital following a collision between a container trailer and a minibus. The incident occurred around noon near Lokuya Hill, just before the Verata Junction along King’s Road. The casualties include both drivers and six passengers from the minibus who required medical attention.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic for the Fiji Police Force, urged Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers to exercise caution while driving. He noted, “This is the second incident this week involving PSVs, and innocent passengers are becoming victims on our roads.”
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
This incident serves as a critical reminder of the importance of road safety, particularly for public transport operators. By advocating for greater vigilance among PSV drivers, SSP Divuana underscores the commitment to enhancing safety measures to protect passengers and reduce future accidents. Through continued awareness and education, there is hope for improved driving practices and fewer incidents on the roads.
