Ten-year-old Arjun Kumar from Labasa had a memorable birthday celebration, marking not only the occasion with family but also witnessing a proud moment as his father, Inspector Avinesh Kumar, received a medal of honor. The notable event took place at the Suva Civic Centre, where Arjun, accompanied by his mother, Sanjeeta Sharma, observed the medal presentation ceremony.

A total of 206 police officers were honored with the Fiji Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medals (FPLSM), while 89 officers received the Fiji Police Medals (FPM). Arjun expressed his pride, stating how special it was to see his father recognized for his services. Inspector Kumar, having served the Fiji Police Force for 19 years, mentioned that this medal was his third acknowledgment since returning from a United Nations mission in South Sudan. He expressed gratitude toward the Fiji Police for recognizing the dedication of its officers in maintaining safety across the nation.

The celebration served as a reminder of the commitment law enforcement officers make for their communities. Acting Commissioner of Police, Juki Fong Chew, praised the police officers for their ongoing efforts and encouraged them to view every opportunity as a chance for improvement. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the police while also addressing the need for ethical conduct among officers.

As Arjun prepares to return to Labasa for the start of school, this experience is likely to inspire him and reinforce the importance of service and dedication in both personal and professional realms. Overall, this story highlights the bond between family, duty, and the valuable contributions made by those in law enforcement, leaving a positive impression on both the community and its young members.
