Progress Continuing for Proposed Health Centre

A new health centre, designed to address the lack of healthcare services in Namosi province, is being planned. According to the public administrator of the province, Laisenia Tui, discussions about the facility are ongoing. The centre, to be built on a 50-acre site at the government station in Dada, will include a maternity unit and a mortuary.

Tui explained that the new facility will benefit residents of the four districts surrounding Dada, who currently have to travel long distances, often involving boat journeys, to access medical services at Namuamua Health Centre or Navua Hospital. He highlighted the high cost of these journeys for villagers.

Tui also confirmed that the government is committed to establishing health centres to bridge gaps in healthcare provision. He further mentioned efforts to reconstruct the Naqarawai Health Station, which has been unused for nearly two years following a fire in 2022.
