Deputy Prime Minister and National Federation Party (NFP) leader Biman Prasad has made it clear that his immediate priority is the effective delivery of government policies rather than focusing on the upcoming 2026 general elections. Despite the elections being just over a year away, Prasad emphasized that his attention is solely on ensuring that the coalition government successfully implements the policies it has committed to during its current term.

“I am not focusing on elections right now; the outcome will depend on the tangible results we deliver in government over the past four years,” Prasad stated. He expressed his belief that the achievements of the current government will play a vital role in shaping the electoral landscape as they work towards meeting urgent developmental goals.

This approach echoes sentiments he has shared in previous announcements, where he articulated the necessity of engaging women and youth to strengthen the party’s base, showcasing a commitment to inclusiveness and unity across communities. This focus aligns with the NFP’s long-standing multiracial identity, setting it apart from race-based parties.

The recent Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the Nadroga Sangam School saw all office bearers re-elected unopposed, indicating a stable leadership structure within the party, which is particularly relevant as they prepare for the next electoral cycle.

Prasad reaffirmed the need to remain focused on governance by reflecting on the vision laid out by the late Jayaram Reddy in 1999, stating that it remains relevant today. He acknowledged the inevitable challenges governments face globally, including mistakes and allegations of corruption, yet he urged members to remain optimistic about the future, reinforcing his belief in the nation’s potential for growth over the next two decades.

In summary, Prasad advocates for patience and commitment to policy delivery as a strategy to secure public support in the upcoming elections, aiming for a positive impact on the community through diligent governance and a focus on future progress.
