Police are actively investigating an incident involving the Prime Minister’s official vehicle, which had its rear window shattered by a stone while traveling along the Queens Highway near Namatakula, Sigatoka, early on Wednesday morning. The event occurred shortly after midnight as the vehicle, registered as GT222, was making its way back to Suva after dropping Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka off at Nadi International Airport.
According to police, the damage to the rear window was caused by a stone, but the circumstances surrounding how the object struck the vehicle remain unclear. Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro indicated that the investigation is focused on whether the stone was intentionally thrown or if it was accidentally dislodged by another passing vehicle.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported in connection with this incident. Authorities have not disclosed additional details as their inquiries continue, signaling their commitment to uncovering the facts surrounding the event.
