Presidential Visit Sparks Reflection and Community Bonds in Fiji

Fiji’s President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu visited Taukei Vidilo, Ratu Wiliame Bouwalu, in Namoli village, Lautoka, after a trip to the presidential property in Tavakubu. This visit held deep personal significance for President Ratu Naiqama, as he reflected on his formative years in Lautoka, sharing memories from his tenure at the Native Land Trust Board (now iTaukei Land Trust Board) where he worked as an Estate Officer and Divisional Manager.

During his time in Namoli, Ratu Naiqama fondly recalled his experiences as a rugby player for both the Namoli and Lautoka teams. He emphasized that these early encounters instilled within him core values of respect, service, and resilience, which continue to influence his leadership approach.

Ratu Wiliame Bouwalu expressed gratitude for the president’s visit, highlighting the importance of such connections to the people and the Vanua o Vidilo. In response, President Ratu Naiqama extended his heartfelt thanks to the community of Namoli for their ongoing support and warm hospitality.

This visit underscores President Ratu Naiqama’s commitment to enhancing traditional ties and community engagement throughout Fiji, as seen in his previous visits to Vuda and other regions.
