The President of India, Her Excellency Droupadi Murmu, will undertake an official visit to Fiji from August 5th to 7th.
H.E Murmu is the 15th President of India, having been elected in 2022 as a candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party. She is the second woman to hold the office after H.E Pratibha Patil.
This marks the first visit of an Indian Head of State to Fiji.
To manage the visit, the Cabinet has set up an Inter-Agency Coordinating Committee to ensure that all aspects of the program are meticulously planned and executed to the highest standards.
During her visit, President Murmu is anticipated to sign an agreement concerning the proposed sites for the construction of a new Indian Chancery, Cultural Centre, and staff residence, as well as a 100-Bed Super Specialty Hospital in Suva.
