The safety of citizens during the forthcoming festive and cyclone seasons hinges on the preparedness and quick response of law enforcement agencies. This key message was delivered by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander of the Eastern Division, during an operational readiness check parade held in Nausori on Thursday morning.
In his inaugural parade since taking up the position, SSP Cakacaka addressed officers from the Eastern Division, stressing the importance of maintaining professionalism. He emphasized the vital role that integrity, respect, humility, and professionalism play in policing.
“As we approach the festive season, which brings joy to our communities, we must also be aware of the unique challenges it presents,” noted SSP Cakacaka. He reminded officers that their conduct not only reflects on themselves but also on the broader Fiji Police Force, underscoring the critical nature of their mission to uphold safety and peace.
The Eastern Division encompasses significant areas, including Nakasi, Nausori, Naitasiri, Tailevu, Rewa, and the Lomaiviti group. During the operational check, both land and maritime resources were assessed to ensure they are ready for action.
SSP Cakacaka concluded by reiterating the message that “the safety of our citizens depends on our readiness and responsiveness,” encouraging officers to maintain their focus, dedication, and high standards of service delivery.
This call for preparedness fosters a sense of hope and reassurance within the community as law enforcement stands poised to handle any challenges that may arise during the busy festive season and the unpredictable cyclone weather. By prioritizing readiness and professionalism, the police force reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding the well-being of all citizens.
