Prasad Praises Rabuka: A Lesson in Leadership and Trust

Professor Biman Prasad, the Leader of the National Federation Party, has expressed his deep gratitude to Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka for his continued friendship and fairness. During his address at the Party Convention in Sigatoka today, Prof Prasad highlighted the Prime Minister’s unwavering support during his personal challenges within the government.

“This leadership instills hope for the future of both our Government and our country as we strive to enhance our governance and society,” said Prof Prasad. He emphasized his appreciation for the solidarity and support that had been established long before they assumed office, indicating that this partnership is expected to last for a considerable time.

Acknowledging the difficulties of coalition governance, Prof Prasad noted that there are instances where the three parties may disagree, and sometimes these disagreements are made public. “This is expected as we all engage in politics for different reasons and represent various groups with unique priorities. However, it is essential to respect each other’s views, even amidst public disagreements,” he stated.

He stressed the importance of respect in a coalition, saying, “We do not always get our way. However, in politics and in a coalition government, respecting your partners and their perspectives is crucial. Respect fosters trust, and after years of governance characterized by distrust, we are working towards rebuilding that trust in our nation,” concluded Prof Prasad.
