A new champion will be determined in the 2024 FMF Inter District Championship (IDC) in Lautoka this weekend, following the elimination of the defending champions, Ba. In their final group match, Ba drew 1-1 with Rewa, which ended their hopes of advancing in the tournament.
Coached by Timoci Seru, Ba had a lackluster performance throughout the tournament, finishing with only two points and a single goal over three matches.
Before the match, Ba required a victory by at least two goals to secure progression. However, Rewa took an early lead with a free-kick by Patrick Joseph in the third minute. Nabil Begg equalized for Ba with a penalty in the 11th minute, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win.
As a result of this outcome, Nadi will advance to the semifinals set for Saturday. Rewa, sponsored by Extra Supermarket, emerges as the Group B winner and will compete in the second semifinal, while Mahijibhai Hardware/Calgary Nadi, the runner-up, will play in the first semifinal.
