Sahil Prasad, the top player from Nadi Sport’s Club, clinched the South Seas Club Trustees Cup for an impressive third time last Saturday in Lautoka. In the final match, Sahil emerged victorious over his father, Yogen Prasad, with a score of 2-0.

Sahil walked away with a prize of $1,000, while his father received $500 and a trophy for his performance. Reflecting on his victory, Sahil expressed the challenges that come with defending a title, stating, “It’s always hard to win it again and again.” He added that this year has brought them great joy during the Christmas season and emphasized the significance of competing against his father in the final.

On his journey to the final, Sahil showcased exceptional skill by defeating Sanjeev Nadi, Sigatoka’s current number one player, in the quarterfinals, and overcoming Jiten Prasad, ranked third in Fiji, in the semifinals. He praised the competitive spirit they shared over the years and conveyed his happiness in reclaiming the championship title.

The chairman of the club’s board of trustees, Jan Mohammed, reiterated the club’s commitment to enhancing its status as a premier venue for snooker in Fiji.

In addition to the finalists, the quarterfinalists included Sanjeev Nand, Kushaal, Roneel Sami, and Abdul Zaved. The tournament also highlighted the top 16 qualifiers, which included Raymond Reddy, Esala Talebula, Lema Matailevu, Navneil Maharaj, Remal Narayan, Vineel Nand, Salend Gounder, and Savati Natoga.

This event not only showcases the tremendous talent in Fiji’s snooker scene but also strengthens family ties, emphasizing the importance of competition and camaraderie within the sport.

In a world where sports bring families together, Sahil and Yogen’s participation in this tournament exemplifies how competitive spirit can coexist with familial bonds, creating lasting memories and shared experiences.
