Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) has announced the development of a significant 132,000-volt transmission line stretching from Virarara to Koronubu in Ba. This initiative aims to strengthen the power supply throughout the Northwest Region of Viti Levu and nearby areas.
As part of this project, EFL will be relocating existing power lines and customer service mains to ensure they are clear of the route designated for the new transmission lines. To facilitate these changes safely, EFL plans to implement scheduled power shutdowns in the Koronubu area from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM during the construction period, which is set to last from October to December 2024.
EFL has emphasized that these planned shutdowns could occur any day of the week, including on weekends and public holidays. To keep customers informed, EFL promises to provide at least three days’ notice prior to any power outages through various channels, including newspaper announcements, updates on the EFL website, and SMS notifications.
This improvement in infrastructure represents a proactive step towards enhancing the reliability and efficiency of power distribution in the region, ultimately paving the way for improved energy access for residents and businesses alike.
In summary, the construction of the new transmission line by EFL signals a commitment to modernizing the power supply network, which should lead to greater reliability and satisfaction for customers in Viti Levu’s Northwest Region. This endeavor not only addresses current energy demands but also sets a foundation for future growth and sustainability.
