Power Shift: New Deputy Leader Takes Charge in Controversial Party Shakeup

The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as one of its new deputy leaders, replacing Lynda Tabuya, who was dismissed from the position in March.

Tabuya’s removal was associated with a complaint regarding her alleged participation in an extramarital affair and a drug-related incident during a government visit to the Parliament of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, last year. The party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, confirmed that Ro Filipe’s appointment as deputy leader was approved by the party’s executive committee during a meeting on September 25.

Ro Filipe currently holds the position of Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services, and he serves as the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. Previously, he was the Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the former administration.
