A man accused of murdering a woman in Raiwaqa, Suva, last month appeared for his initial hearing in the High Court in Suva yesterday. Anare Vuli Cilicewa, 31, faced one count of murder during the proceedings before Puisne Judge Justice Pita Bulamainaivalu.
The court heard that Cilicewa allegedly killed Sabreen Shahib Ali on September 9 in Raiwaqa. Cilicewa informed the court that he had not yet secured legal representation but had submitted an application for assistance from the Legal Aid Commission.
State Prosecutor Zenith Zunaid requested an additional seven days to provide full disclosures related to the case, citing the need for further police investigations. The court agreed to adjourn the matter until October 16 to allow for updates on Cilicewa’s legal representation and the disclosures.
Additionally, Cilicewa’s production order was extended. Zunaid mentioned that he would be attending to another case but would ensure that another prosecutor would appear on his behalf for the next hearing.
