The worsening state of the roads at the Suva Bus Stand has raised significant concerns among both pedestrians and bus operators. Operators have pointed out the growing number of potholes, which complicates navigation in this busy area, particularly during peak hours.
In response to these issues, the Suva City Council (SCC) has reassured the public that road repairs are a priority. Acting Chief Executive Officer Tevita Boseiwaqa stated that the council is in regular contact with the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) to tackle the problem. “We are treating this as a priority,” Mr. Boseiwaqa emphasized. He noted that the ongoing wet weather has played a major role in the roads’ deterioration and assured the public that once conditions improve, repair work will commence promptly.
This proactive approach by the SCC highlights their commitment to improving infrastructure in Suva, which is essential for the safety and convenience of both commuters and bus operators. With cooperative efforts between the council and the FRA, there’s optimism that the situation will soon improve.
It is a hopeful reminder that diligence in addressing infrastructure issues can lead to better public spaces and transportation experiences.
