The postponement of Extra Bula FC’s match against South Island United is seen as a silver lining for the young team, allowing players the essential time to recover before their next game. The match, which was originally set to take place at North Harbour Stadium, was called off due to unfavorable weather conditions that rendered the pitch unplayable. Officials have decided to reschedule the game to a later date in the ongoing competition.

Head coach Stephane Auvray addressed the media on Tuesday, emphasizing the importance of recovery in professional sports. He recognized that many players are still adjusting to the rigorous demands of the professional environment. “You only have two days to get back to the next game,” Auvray stated. He further explained that the team utilized alternate recovery methods including a pool session and massages to help the players recuperate.

Additionally, Auvray highlighted the significance of proper hydration, noting that some players need to develop better habits related to fluid intake. “We have hydration, which is very important because I believe some of our players still did not have the habits of the professional player in terms of drinking a lot of water, electrolytes, etc. So, it’s a work in progress,” he mentioned, revealing the ongoing development of the team.

Looking ahead, the players are gearing up for their next match scheduled for Friday against Auckland FC, with hopes of applying what they’ve learned during this recovery period to enhance their performance.
