The establishment of a Postal Department came a year after the first Postal Act was passed in 1872. This laid the foundation for formal postal services, and over time, the operations became independent when Post Fiji Ltd was formed on July 1, 1996, following a separation from Telecom Fiji Ltd.

This includes Post Shop retail services offering stationery and groceries, financial services in partnership with BSP, and the introduction of Smartmail for corporate billing.
