Unity Fiji leader Savenaca Narube has voiced strong opposition to the recent cabinet expansion conducted by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, estimating that appointing new ministers and assistant ministers will impose a financial burden of approximately $3 million on taxpayers. This cost, as indicated by Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad, will be funded through existing budget allocations.

Narube criticized the Prime Minister for what he perceives as prioritizing his political survival over public welfare. He pointed out that the reshuffle has expanded the cabinet size to 34 members, which includes individuals who were not elected by the coalition parties, raising concerns about the legitimacy of these appointments.
