The People’s Alliance (PA) party has appointed Ro Filipe Tuisawau as a new deputy leader, succeeding Lynda Tabuya, who was ousted from the position in March. Ms. Tabuya’s removal was linked to a complaint regarding her alleged involvement in an extramarital affair and a drug scandal during a government trip to Melbourne, Australia, last year. The party’s acting secretary, Sila Balawa, confirmed that Ro Filipe’s appointment was approved by the party’s executive committee during its meeting on September 25. Ro Filipe currently serves as the Minister for Public Works, Transport, and Meteorological Services and is also the Leader of Government Business in Parliament. Previously, he held the position of Opposition Whip from 2018 to 2022 under the former administration.
