Inosi Kuridrani was officially sworn in as a Member of Parliament yesterday, marking his return to the legislative body ahead of the highly anticipated debate on the 2025–2026 National Budget. He steps into the position previously held by the late Minister for Agriculture, Vatimi Rayalu, and represents The People’s Alliance Party.

Kuridrani previously held the role of chairperson at the Land Transport Authority, and it is uncertain whether he will receive a ministerial portfolio, as such decisions lie with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. The Speaker of Parliament, er Filimone Jitoko, welcomed Kuridrani and confirmed that he is set to contribute to the upcoming budget discussions on Wednesday, indicating a significant moment in Fiji’s political landscape.

His return to Parliament aligns with a broader trend of restructuring within Fiji’s government, which has seen various shifts in leadership and party affiliations. Many hope that Kuridrani’s extensive experience and commitment to public service will contribute positively to both the legislative process and the urgent needs of the Fijian populace.

Previously, Kuridrani’s swearing-in reflects an era of renewed collaboration and active representation within the government. This integration of new leaders into the parliamentary fold brings a sense of optimism and hope for constituents who seek responsive and accountable representation in addressing pressing societal issues.

As Fiji navigates through these political changes, there is hope that Kuridrani, along with other members of Parliament, will foster a collaborative atmosphere committed to prioritizing the interests and needs of their constituents, particularly during crucial financial discussions.
