The safety of citizens during the upcoming festive period and cyclone season is dependent on the preparedness and responsiveness of law enforcement agencies. This was emphasized by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joape Cakacaka, the recently appointed Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern Division, during an operational readiness check parade held on Thursday morning in Nausori.
SSP Cakacaka’s first parade since his appointment saw attendance from officers serving throughout the Eastern Division. He urged the officers to maintain professionalism at all times, reminding them of the high standards of discipline that define their roles. “As guardians of peace and safety, it is crucial to uphold values like integrity, respect, humility, and professionalism in all our actions,” he stated.
As the festive season approaches—a time of joy and celebration—SSP Cakacaka acknowledged the unique challenges it brings, calling for an unwavering commitment to duty and excellence among the police force. He stressed that the community’s scrutiny of police actions reflects not only on individual officers but also on the entire Fiji Police Force.
The Eastern Division’s operational areas include Nakasi, Nausori, Naitasiri, Tailevu, Rewa, and the Lomaiviti group, where checks were carried out on both land and maritime resources. SSP Cakacaka reiterated the importance of readiness and responsiveness for ensuring public safety and encouraged officers to maintain their focus and dedication to service delivery.
This proactive approach from the Divisional Police Commander reflects a commitment to safety and community wellbeing, instilling a sense of hope that during the forthcoming festive days and stormy season, the police will be well-prepared to support and protect citizens effectively. Community vigilance and police readiness can foster a safer environment for all.
