Police Urged to Stay Disciplined as Festive Season Begins

As the festive season approaches, the Police Force has been urged to maintain discipline, vigilance, and a strong commitment to their frontline duties. This message was delivered by Minister for Policing and Communications, Ioane Naivalurua, during a thanksgiving church service at Centenary Church.

Recognizing the critical role police officers play during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, Naivalurua emphasized the importance of focusing on their responsibilities. “I want to urge you all to be keeping the main thing, the main thing. No matter what we do, we don’t ever lose focus on the task at hand,” he stated.

The Minister acknowledged the challenges the force has faced in recent months, highlighting the need for strong leadership and dedication from officers during these testing times. He stressed that the public relies on the police for safety, reassurance, and stability and urged them to uphold high standards of discipline and professionalism.

The annual church service marked an opportunity for officers and senior officials to come together and reflect on their achievements over the past year. Naivalurua expressed his gratitude to the officers for their dedication and resilience, noting that their hard work has allowed the organization to meet its commitments despite the difficulties encountered.

He also highlighted the police force’s responsibility to protect vulnerable groups, specifically calling on officers to take a proactive stance on issues affecting women and girls, encouraging the organization to confront these challenges directly.

The minister’s call to action and appreciation for the officers’ hard work underscores a hopeful outlook as the police prepare for a busy season, reinforcing their commitment to community safety and support.
