Police Under Fire: Officers Charged Amid Rising Crime Concerns

Six police officers have been charged with offenses including abuse of office, assault causing actual bodily harm, fraud, illegal possession of drugs, and wrongful confinement. Acting Police Commissioner Sakeo Raikaci emphasized that law enforcement personnel can also be victims of crime while performing their duties. He noted that 171 officers reported being victims in 219 incidents, with 33 of those involved in cases with multiple counts. These incidents included serious assaults, resisting arrest, and obstruction of police officers during their official duties.
