The Police team, sponsored by Extra Supermarket, celebrated a commanding 6-1 victory over Army, successfully defending their title in the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl soccer competition held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. The match saw Police take an early lead with an own goal from Army goalkeeper Epeli Loaniceva, finishing the first half at 1-0 in favor of Police.
In the second half, Police increased their dominance, with goals from Ratu Apenisa Anare and Sailosi Nalaubu making the score 3-0. Nalaubu added another goal at the 56th minute, while Army managed to score their only goal through Salacieli Dakuna in the 61st minute. Police, however, were relentless and scored three more goals to seal their impressive victory.
As the two teams wrap up their competitions in boxing and soccer, they will shift gears to netball and volleyball events today. The football players will return to Nasova with pride, knowing their title is retained for another year. The rivalry continues with a rugby match scheduled for 3 PM tomorrow at the same stadium.
