The Fiji Police Force has successfully defended their title in the 2024 Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl Competition, edging out the Army with a narrow victory of 20-19 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This win holds particular significance as it coincides with the 150th anniversary of the Fiji Police Force.

Coach Solomone Nute expressed pride in his team’s performance, particularly highlighting the efforts of young player Ponipate Tuberi, who was named man of the match for his exceptional contributions on the field. On the other hand, Army captain John Muller expressed disappointment over the result, recognizing missed opportunities that could have led to a different outcome.

Throughout the week-long Sukuna Bowl competition, the Police team demonstrated dominance across various sports, securing victories in Cricket, Soccer, Boxing, Volleyball, and Development rugby, while the Army claimed wins in Netball and women’s rugby.

Overall, this year’s competition underscores the strong tradition of sportsmanship and friendly rivalry between the teams. The Police team’s victory serves not only as a celebration of their athleticism but also as a proud moment in honor of their century-and-a-half of service to the community.

This event brought together fans and supporters, fostering a sense of unity and community spirit, which is a hopeful reminder of the positive impact these competitions can have on society.
