The Fiji Police Force has successfully defended their title in the 2024 Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl Competition, triumphing over the Army with a narrow score of 20-19 at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This victory is particularly momentous as it coincides with the celebration of the Fiji Police Force’s 150th anniversary.

Coach Solomone Nute praised the team’s resilience and exceptional performance. He highlighted young talent Ponipate Tuberi, whose efforts on the field earned him the coveted “man of the match” award.

On the other hand, Army’s captain, John Muller, expressed disappointment over the loss, noting that the team had opportunities to clinch victory.

Throughout the Sukuna Bowl, which took place over a week, the Police demonstrated their prowess, winning in Cricket, Soccer, Boxing, Volleyball, and a Development rugby match. Meanwhile, the Army managed victories in Netball and women’s rugby.

This year’s competition reflects not only the spirited rivalry between the two teams but also a celebration of sport and camaraderie within Fiji. The achievements of the Police team, particularly in light of their anniversary, are a testament to their commitment and teamwork.

It paints an optimistic picture for the future of sports in Fiji, fostering unity and healthy competition among different sectors.
