The Police boxing team had a strong performance in the opening day of the Sukuna Bowl Boxing competition held at the LICI Court in Suva on Tuesday, securing victories in seven out of the 11 matches. Captain Jone Davule, representing National Amateur Boxing, led the team by winning his bout against Army’s Pita Nasowaqa by points.

In the lightweight division, Petero Vunivalu also achieved success by defeating Army’s Ratu Kelevi Mawi. However, Army’s Samuela Naqari managed to earn a win against Jone Tuitabu in the 80 to 86kg category. Additionally, other Army team members, including Rusiate Qalo, Noa Yabakidrau, and Meli Nailumu, also secured victories during the event.

The boxing competition is set to continue today, where the finals will take place, promising more exciting matchups.
