The Police boxing team had a strong start on the first day of the Sukuna Bowl Boxing competition held at the LICI Court in Suva, winning seven out of 11 matches. Jone Davule, the captain of the Police team and a National Amateur Boxing representative, set the tone by securing a decisive victory over Army’s Pita Nasowaqa by points.
In the lightweight division, Petero Vunivalu also celebrated victory, defeating Army’s Ratu Kelevi Mawi. The competition saw notable performances from the Army side as well, with Samuela Naqari winning against Jone Tuitabu in the 80 to 86kg category. Other notable Army champions included Rusiate Qalo, Noa Yabakidrau, and Meli Nailumu.
The competition is set to continue today, culminating in the finals, which promise to showcase even more talent and competitive spirit from both teams.
