Police have officially received the investigation file concerning suspended Director of Immigration, Amelia Komaisavai, from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP). This confirmation was provided by police spokesperson Ana Naisoro, who stated that the files related to all immigration officers involved, including Komaisavai, have now been transferred from the ODPP to police authorities.
Amelia Komaisavai is currently on leave as the investigation unfolds into allegations regarding the unauthorized issuance of Fijian passports to children of two members of the Grace Road Church. The ODPP informed that Komaisavai’s file had been forwarded to the police as of last month.
Previously, in December of last year, the ODPP noted that it had received the investigation file concerning Komaisavai, which indicated her involvement along with several other individuals. At that time, the office revealed that they had completed their review of the evidence and would soon return the file to the police, accompanied by a summary of recommendations.
This ongoing investigation highlights the commitment of law enforcement to ensure accountability in public service positions, particularly regarding passport issuance and immigration regulations. The steps being taken suggest diligence in addressing serious allegations, promoting transparency in governance.
