Police Sharks Claim Thrilling FNRL Women’s Premiership Title!

The Police Sharks secured a thrilling victory over the Yasawa Saints in the final of the Fiji National Rugby League (FNRL) Women’s Premiership, held at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori. The match concluded with a narrow score of 24-22 in favor of the Sharks.

Post-match, Police Sharks coach Akuila Masi expressed his joy over the hard-fought win, stating, “It feels amazing to finally come out on top after last season’s disappointment. This win is a significant accomplishment and a recognition of all the hard work we put in.”

The Yasawa Saints proved to be formidable opponents, maintaining a close scoreline right up to the final minutes. Masi attributed the triumph to the teamwork and relentless determination exhibited by his players. “We never gave up even when the game was so close. That made all the difference today,” he noted.

Tension filled the atmosphere as the match approached its conclusion, with the outcome in doubt until the very last moment. Known for their toughness, the Yasawa Saints challenged the Sharks throughout the game. “It was nerve-wracking in those final moments. We knew Yasawa Saints were a tough opponent, and we had to stay focused and give it our all until the final whistle,” Masi recounted.

The team was motivated to make amends for last year’s defeat, and this victory sets a positive precedent for future seasons. Masi shared his aspirations for the next season, emphasizing the importance of continuous improvement and teamwork in their pursuit of defending the title. “This win sets the tone for next season. Our goal is to keep improving and maintaining the same level of determination and teamwork. We want to defend our title and aim for even greater success,” he added.

Masi also took a moment to thank the supporters, particularly the commissioner of Police and the Fiji Police, for their consistent encouragement. “This win wouldn’t have been possible without their belief in us. We hope we make them proud,” he expressed.

Although specific celebrations have yet to be organized, the team is looking forward to enjoying their hard-earned victory before focusing on the challenges ahead in the next season.

In the men’s final, the Vusu Raiders claimed victory over the Navy Albatross with a score of 20-10.
