The Police Sharks emerged victorious against the Yasawa Saints in a thrilling final at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori, securing the Fiji National Rugby League (FNRL) Women’s Premiership title with a score of 24-22.
After the match, Police Sharks coach Akuila Masi expressed his joy over the team’s hard-fought win. He reflected on the significance of the victory following a disappointing previous season, stating, “It feels amazing to finally come out on top. This win is a great sense of accomplishment and validation for all the hard work we put in.”
The Yasawa Saints fought fiercely, keeping the contest closely contested right until the end. Masi credited the team’s cohesion and determination as the key factors that led to their success. “We never gave up even when the game was so close. That made all the difference today,” he explained.
The atmosphere in the stands was charged with excitement as the match approached its conclusion, with the outcome remaining in doubt. The Yasawa Saints, known for their toughness and resilience, pushed the Sharks to their limits. “It was nerve-wracking in those final moments. We knew Yasawa Saints were a tough opponent, and we had to stay focused and give it our all until the final whistle,” he shared.

Masi conveyed his hopes for the upcoming seasons, stating, “This win sets the tone for next season. Our goal is to keep improving and maintain the same level of determination and teamwork. We want to defend our title and aim for even greater success.”
He also took the opportunity to thank the supporters, particularly the commissioner of Police and the Fiji Police for their continuous encouragement, asserting that their support was crucial in achieving this win.
While specific celebrations are yet to be organized, the team is eager to relish this hard-earned victory before focusing on the challenge of defending their title in the next season.
In the men’s final, the Vusu Raiders triumphed over Navy Albatross with a score of 20-10.
