The Fiji Police Force rugby team is determined to fiercely defend the Vodafone Ratu Sukuna Bowl this year. During a recent visit from the Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew and members of the command group to their training camp in Nadi, the team received motivating words on their upcoming challenge.
Police Rugby president and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mesake Waqa emphasized the commitment of the players and officials to give their utmost in defending the title for their organization, families, and supporters. The Shop N Save Police Blues are approaching their title defense with a positive mindset as they prepare to face the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) on Saturday, November 9, at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Waqa pointed out that humility is key in sports, as all teams train hard to win. While the Police team is focused on retaining their title, they acknowledge that the RFMF will also be seeking victory with equal determination. He highlighted the significance of this year’s competition as the Fiji Police Force celebrates its 150th Anniversary, aiming to present the best rugby team to honor their legacy and their supporters.
“We are aware of the tough competition ahead, as the RFMF will also be giving their all,” said Waqa, wishing them well and looking forward to the match on November 9. He encouraged police supporters to come out and cheer for all participating teams in various sports, extending best wishes to the RFMF as the hosts of this year’s tournament.
Excitingly, the annual tournament is set to kick off next Tuesday with a boxing competition, promising a series of thrilling events ahead for sports fans.
This event not only highlights the competitive spirit of both teams but also reflects the camaraderie and community support within Fiji’s sporting traditions. It is a great opportunity for athletes to showcase their skills and for fans to unite in support of their teams.
