Last night, law enforcement officials apprehended five individuals in Narere during a police operation that uncovered six zip-lock bags filled with white crystals, suspected to be illegal drugs. In a separate operation yesterday, police removed 272 green plants, believed to be marijuana, from a farming area in Tacilevu, Savusavu.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operation (ACP) Livai Driu reported that drug raids are being conducted daily, leading to multiple arrests and charges. “We are also conducting raids in villages with the help of the Turaga ni Koro, and it’s encouraging that community members are coming forward to provide information,” he stated.
The Chief of Operations affirmed that the police will maintain their focus on drug eradication throughout the festive season, underscoring the commitment to tackle drug-related issues in the community. While no arrests have yet been made concerning the uprooted plants, investigations into both situations are ongoing.
This active approach by the police highlights a collective community effort to combat drug-related issues, reflecting the dedication to foster a safer environment for everyone. As police continue their initiatives, the involvement and support of the community are essential in the fight against substance abuse.
