Five individuals were apprehended in Narere last night following a police operation that uncovered six zip-lock bags filled with white crystals, suspected to be illicit substances. In a separate effort, law enforcement officials in Savusavu removed 272 green plants believed to be marijuana from the Tacilevu farming area.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu provided an update on the ongoing anti-drug initiatives, stating that police are conducting daily raids with multiple arrests and charges being made. “We are also conducting raids in villages with the support of the Turaga ni Koro. It is encouraging that community members are stepping forward to provide information to the police,” noted ACP Driu.

The Chief of Operations confirmed that efforts to eradicate drugs will persist throughout the festive season. While no arrests have been made in connection to the uprooted plants so far, investigations into both incidents are currently underway.

This proactive approach by law enforcement showcases a commitment to fighting drug-related issues in the community. Such collaborative efforts between the police and local residents are vital as they help foster a safer environment for all. The ongoing investigations signal that authorities are taking comprehensive measures to address the problem comprehensively, which could lead to a significant reduction in drug activity as the community comes together to support these initiatives.
