Police Raids Uncover Illicit Substances and Proceeds of Crime

Multiple raids conducted in the last 24-hour period have led to the discovery of alleged illicit substances and money believed to be proceeds of crime.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu reported that officers searched a group of youth cutting cane at a farm in Tabia yesterday. During the search, they found dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, resulting in arrests.

In a separate raid, officers from the Narcotics and Crime Intel Unit and the Fiji Detector Dog Unit in Vunivau seized several packets of dried leaves believed to be marijuana and money suspected to be proceeds from the sale of illicit substances. A suspect was taken into custody.

In another incident in the Northern Division, the Cakau Operations team seized plants believed to be marijuana from the Tacilevu area this morning. The owner of the farm is known to police, and efforts are underway to locate him.

Additionally, the Western K9 Unit and the Fiji Detector Dog Unit intercepted a vehicle suspected of transporting drugs early this morning in Waqadra in the Western Division. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found a bag containing parcels of white substances believed to be methamphetamine. Three men were taken in for questioning, and all seized substances have been sent for analysis.

ACP Driu emphasized that the successful raids were a result of information provided by members of the public. He expressed appreciation for the shared information and issued a warning to those involved in the illicit trade, stating that they will be caught.
