Police Raids Lead to Discovery of Illicit Substances and Arrests – Fiji Law Enforcement Operations

Multiple raids conducted in the last 24 hours led to the discovery of alleged illicit substances and money believed to be proceeds of crime.

Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations (ACP) Livai Driu reported that officers searched a group of youths cutting cane at a farm in Tabia yesterday. They found dried leaves believed to be marijuana, leading to arrests.

In a separate raid in Vunivau, officers from the Narcotics and Crime Intel Unit and the Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU) seized several packets of dried leaves suspected to be marijuana, along with money thought to be proceeds from the sale of illicit substances. A suspect was taken into custody.

In the Northern Division, the Cakau Operations team confiscated plants believed to be marijuana from the Tacilevu area this morning. The owner of the farm is known to the police, and efforts are underway to locate him.

ACP Driu also reported that in Waqadra in the Western Division, officers from the Western K9 Unit and FDDU intercepted a vehicle suspected of transporting drugs early this morning. A search of the vehicle revealed a bag containing parcels of white substances believed to be methamphetamine. Three men were taken in for questioning.

All seized substances have been sent for analysis.

ACP Driu emphasized that the successful raids were the result of information shared by the public. “The sharing of information is truly appreciated and should be a warning to those involved in the illicit trade that they will be caught,” he said.
