The safety of citizens during the upcoming festive and cyclone seasons hinges on the preparedness and responsiveness of law enforcement agencies. This important message was conveyed by Divisional Police Commander East (DPC/E) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joape Cakacaka during an operational readiness parade held on Thursday morning in Nausori, which was his first event since his recent appointment.
In his address to the officers from the Eastern Division, SSP Cakacaka emphasized the significance of maintaining professionalism in their duties. He reminded the officers of the high standards of discipline that characterize their profession, stating, “As guardians of peace and safety, it is imperative that we uphold the values of integrity, respect, humility, and professionalism in all that we do.”
SSP Cakacaka acknowledged the forthcoming festive season as a period that brings joy and celebration but also poses unique challenges that require a steadfast commitment to duty and excellence. He pointed out that the actions of police officers are scrutinized by the community, reflecting not just on individuals but on the entire Fiji Police Force.
The Eastern Division, which encompasses areas such as Nakasi, Nausori, Naitasiri, Tailevu, Rewa, and the Lomaiviti group, conducted thorough checks on both land and maritime resources to ensure operational readiness. SSP Cakacaka reminded his team that the safety of citizens is contingent upon their alertness and responsiveness, urging them to remain focused and dedicated to their roles while delivering high standards of service.
This proactive approach taken by the Fiji Police Force ahead of the festive and cyclone season serves to reaffirm the commitment to public safety, instilling confidence in the community that they are prepared to respond to potential emergencies.
As we look toward the celebrations and challenges ahead, the dedication of SSP Cakacaka and his team inspires hope that the Eastern Division is well-equipped to ensure a safe environment for all citizens.
