Police on High Alert: Drug Dealers Beware!

As various conferences, carnivals, and the school holidays approach, police have issued a stern warning to those involved in the drug trade that they will be held accountable.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu stated that drug operations will be intensified due to the expected increase in public gatherings related to school holidays, festivals, meetings, and conferences.

“We are actively conducting raids on farms and have recently made significant discoveries in Kadavu, alongside arrests for illegal possession of narcotics,” ACP Driu noted.

The police are urging the community to report any information via the hotline 917 or through Crime Stoppers at 919 to aid in the fight against illicit drugs.

Additionally, the Fiji Police have enhanced their K9 capabilities with support from the New Zealand Police as part of the Fiji Police Partnership Programme. This collaboration is expected to strengthen the Fiji Police’s Dog Patrol abilities in conjunction with the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service.
