Three police officers charged in connection with the death of a man at the Samabula Police Station in 2022 are scheduled to return to the High Court in Suva on December 11 for their judgment.
Maciu Vakatuturaga, Joshua Bull, and Isireli Raseisei appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe at the High Court in Suva on Friday, seeking to have their judgment delivered. They each face a charge of manslaughter for the alleged assault of Mikaele Tikoivalenibula.
Tikoivalenibula was taken to the Samabula Police Station in February 2022 after allegedly assaulting a 27-year-old mechanic. Justice Rajasinghe informed both parties that he required additional time to finalize the ruling, resulting in the adjournment of the date.
Vakatuturaga and Bull are represented by lawyer Shirley Tivao, while Raseisei is represented by Joji Cakau. All three men remain out on bail.
