Three police officers facing charges related to a man’s death at the Samabula Police Station in 2022 are scheduled to return to the High Court in Suva on December 11 for their judgment.

Maciu Vakatuturaga, Joshua Bull, and Isireli Raseisei appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe on Friday, hoping for a swift resolution to their case. Each officer is charged with one count of manslaughter for allegedly assaulting Mikaele Tikoivalenibula.

Tikoivalenibula was taken into custody at the Samabula Police Station following allegations that he had assaulted a 27-year-old mechanic. The incident in question occurred in February 2022.

During the court proceedings, Justice Rajasinghe indicated that he required additional time to finalize the ruling, resulting in the postponement of the judgment date.

Vakatuturaga and Bull are represented by attorney Shirley Tivao, while Raseisei’s legal representation comes from Joji Cakau. All three officers remain out on bail.
