Three police officers and two civilians accused of tampering with methamphetamine evidence at Suva’s Totogo Police Station are set to appear in court again next year. The officers—Roy Seinibici, Inoke Tikomaimalevani, and Samisoni Ralulu—along with civilians Anare Buresolei and Anare Buresolei Vulaki—are charged with interfering with evidence.
The allegations state that between February 9 and 10 of this year, the individuals either aided or abetted in the tampering of seized drugs during an operation conducted by the Southern Division Police Operation team. The case was scheduled to be heard today by Suva Senior Magistrate Sufia Hamza; however, all cases listed for today have been postponed. These charges have been officially sanctioned by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The accused individuals are now scheduled to reappear in court on January 14, 2025.
This case highlights the ongoing challenges faced in law enforcement when it comes to maintaining integrity and accountability. As the judicial process continues, it serves as an opportunity for the police department to reinforce the importance of adhering to legal and ethical standards. The upcoming hearing could provide a chance for justice to be served and restore public trust in law enforcement.
