Valelevu Police have apprehended a man suspected of engaging in a grab-and-run theft in the Nasinu region. The alleged incident occurred on April 16, 2025, when a victim reported that their mobile phone was stolen while waiting at a bus shelter. Authorities stated that the event was recorded and subsequently shared on social media.
This 28-year-old suspect is also under investigation for a separate robbery case that took place just a day prior in Kinoya. He is currently in custody as police conduct further inquiries into both incidents.
Community vigilance plays a crucial role in addressing such crimes, and this situation echoes previous cases where prompt police action has led to arrests and the recovery of stolen items. For instance, a recent incident involved officers from the Nasinu Police Station responding swiftly to another robbery report, resulting in the successful recovery of stolen property and the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect.
The police emphasized the importance of collaboration between citizens and law enforcement in promoting safety in neighborhoods. As police efforts continue to combat crime effectively, there remains hope for a safer environment for all residents.
