Police in Navua have made separate arrests of two 35-year-old men following the discovery of dried marijuana leaves and methamphetamine during routine inspections. These arrests were part of a series of police snap checks conducted across all five divisions throughout the month.

The initial arrest occurred during a coordinated operation by the Southern Division Crime and Intelligence Unit (SD SOCIU), in collaboration with the K9 and Fiji Detector Dog Unit. Last Wednesday, they executed a raid in Raiwai, just outside Suva city, uncovering white substances, presumed to be methamphetamine, along with various items believed to be stolen and both foreign and local currencies. The two men, along with a woman connected to the operation, were taken into custody, and all confiscated items have been sent for analysis.

In addition to the operation in Raiwai, further snap checks were carried out at a roadblock site in Bagasau, Savusavu. Officers from the Tukavesi Police Station discovered a black bag in the luggage compartment of a bus that contained dried leaves suspected to be marijuana. Meanwhile, in the Western Division, police apprehended two passengers on Monday night at Sabeto Road in Nadi after finding several branches of dried leaves believed to be marijuana in their possession.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, emphasized that the ongoing snap checks are proving effective, and authorities plan to continue these joint raids across the divisions.

This proactive approach by law enforcement not only addresses drug-related offenses but is also a significant part of the broader efforts to enhance community safety. Consistent police vigilance during these operations highlights a commitment to maintaining law and order, fostering a safer environment for the public.

Summary: Two men were arrested in Navua after police found dried marijuana and methamphetamine during routine checks. These arrests are part of ongoing efforts by the police across several divisions to combat drug-related offenses and improve community safety.
